Hearth Candelabras
| When you forgo the beauty of a hearth candelabra and opt for making a real fire in your hearth, here are some great hints for lighting a fire easily and safely. Always used seasoned wood (dry and without sap) that has been designated for burning in fires. Logs should be 9 to 14 inches long and no more than 4 inches in diameter. For a hot fire, use hardwoods like oak and fruitwood. For smaller fires, use softer woods like pine or birch. Kindling should be dry and about two fingers wide. Never overload the firebox; 3 or 4 logs are just fine, and never burn trash, paper products, or Christmas trees in a hearth. |
